By: Samantha Molly Gibbons

In the city of Verona Hills, this pair of star-crossed lovers end their life literally till' death do them part. It started with Sir Montague and Lady Montague's son, Romeo. Young Romeo, along with all his friends, decided to crash the Capulet's annual end of the year bash.
Meanwhile, Juliet was being impressed by Paris, the man her parents wanted her to marry. Out of no where Romeo catches Juliet's eye. It was love at first sight as they say. They claimed to be in love and snuck around the party kissing. The real tragedy begins because they're families are complete enemies all we all know, and they secretly got married by Father Friar.

Romeo's Bio:
Last name: Montague

Age: 16 Years Old

Romeo was the son of Sir and Lady Montague, the owners of Montague Hotel. He was a very calm and easy going guy. Never was into fights and problems like that. His best friend was Mercutio, which was related to Mayor Prince. Mercutio was stabbed by Tybalt just the other day, and we think that is what set Romeo off, so he ended up killing Tybalt, as revenge. So Mayor Prince banished him from Verona and that's the last time we saw him alive. He came back when he heard Juliet was dead and he ended his life lying down next to the love of his life.

Juliet's Bio:
Last name: Capulet

Age: 12 Years Old

Juliet was the young heir of the Capulet Hotel in Verona Hills. She was only 12 years old and was madly in love with her enemies son. She was too young to be in love, we all question the fact if it was real love or just lust. She didn't have much freedom from her parents and she did the worst possible thing a young daughter could do behind her parent's back: get married. But when her husband was banished for killing her cousin Tybalt she was devastated. She had to figure out a way out of getting married to Paris so she faked her own death. When Romeo heard of this he rushed back. When he had killed himself, Juliet woke up to see him dead next to her, so she finally killed herself.

Capulet Statement:
Nurse- "My dear Juliet! Oh my dear Juliet! If I would have known she would have gone to great lengths for that retched boy I would have never allowed her to marry him! I feel so guilty for letting it get this out of control, i feel like this is my fault!"

Montague Statement:
Benvolio- "Jesus Christ! First Mercutio now Romeo! Why is this happening! Romeo was such a cool guy, he didn't need to die because of that lying no good girl. She caused all of this for him and I'm going to get her family if it's the last I do!"

All in all we have lost 2 very valued people in our society, and Mayor Prince has chosen to punish both families. He is going to close down their casino's and they are going to have to learn to get over their differences and get along! The Nurse and Father Friar will be put on trial for assisting and being part of their marriage and keeping it to themselves. We will have further information on the punishment for both families in the future. Right now lets just hope that the death of their children will bring them together.

My Views On Euthanasia

Euthanasia is a very controversial and it seems obscure at times but i can earnestly say i agree with the concept of euthanasia. Euthanasia is way of dying painlessly and like in the past article that we read about the dad in Italy pulling the plug on his daughter because she had been living that way for 17 years already. That was obvious that his daughter was not going to get better because it had been 17 years already and her family was suffering to see her there. Even though they knew she was alive but it might have never seemed that way because she wasn't really living her life, she was in a deep dark sleep in an abyss. A renunciation of them is better than to see them laying in a hospital and not being able to talk to them. I think that if it's their time to leave this world they have to go and you have to accept it and move on. I know it might be impalpable and it might be hard for you but it's the best thing for the other person. Like in Of Mice and Men, I think George did the right thing for Lennie because eventually he was gonna get caught and he might have died very painfully but George knew it was the right for him. If someone is going to pull the plug on you, it is better if it's someone who knows that that would be what you wanted all along and they should know that it's the best thing for you. There are some exceptions to euthanasia. One exception to euthanasia is when people do it to be malevolent and make seem like a murder but that's not right. One of those exceptions is if you know that they will recover and they will be back to normal. Another exception is if they have said that if something where to happen to them, then they would want to keep living. Then in that case no one has the right to end your life if you wanted to keep living. Even though euthanasia seems harsh and inhumane, you should think of it as actually helping someone exit this world in a peace non painful way.

"Mercy" Killing

1a..

I think that George's perspective for what he did to Lennie was for Lennie to stop suffering and instead of someone else to kill him it was better for George to kill him. Lennie was suffering where ever they went and no matter what he always got in trouble. Someday he was bound to get caught and someone was going to kill him and might as well make it George. It would have been harder for George to see Lennie get killed by someone else and it would have been too emotional for him. George killed him because he actually had a reason and he wanted Lennie to stop suffering mentally and emotionally.

1b..

I think that it was the best thing for Lennie. It was the best for him because things where always difficult for Lennie, he always got into some sort of trouble and then they had to go to a new ranch and get a new job. Lennie always forgot hings and he wasn't living a good life. He always dreamed of having a place of his own with George and that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. I also think it was the best thing because it was good the George killed him and not Curley and all his workers. It was better that George killed because then if he would've seen Curley kill him he wouldn't have gotten one last chance to talk to him and tell him the story of them two.

2a..

"Late last year, 67-year-old Beppino Englaro, won an intense 10-year legal battle to allow his daughter's feeding tubes to be removed, saying that was her wish."
I think that the father's reason for removing his daughter's feeding tubes was that he knew his daughter was suffering and 17 years is a very long time and he just didn't want to see her keep living that way. He knew his daughter well enough to know she would like to have those tubes removed. If he was passionate enough to battle for 10 years to get the feeding tubes removed then he was sure hes daughter would have wanted to just die peacefully. Those 10 years were worth fighting for what was better for his daughter and even more worth it if his daughter wanted.

2b..

"The court accepted that before the accident, his daughter had expressed a preference for dying over being kept alive artificially."
I think that it was the best thing to do for the daughter. She didn't deserve to suffer in that way. Especially if she preferred dying instead of living off artificial machines. It's bad enough to know that your daughter is hurting inside and you want her to stop suffering but it took 10 years for her to finally be in peace. It was the best thing over all too because her family was probably tired of seeing her in that state and they knew she preferred to die.

2c..

I agree with what the father did. I agree because he knew that the daughter wanted to die instead of being kept alive by tubes. The daughter wanted to die so why not let her do what she wanted. Why would someone keep this poor lady alive even though she wanted to die?! She was suffering she needed to stop and she wanted too. No one had the right to strop her from doing what she wanted especially in the state that she was. I agree that it was the best thing in this case but it also depends on the case of the person, so this does not necessarily mean i agree to euthanasia.

3a..

I think that this was what going through the father's mind while contemplating "mercy" killing:
. "What am i going to feed my kids?"
. "How are we going to survive as a family?"
. "Who are we going to leave our children with?"
. "We can't leave them alone."
. "We can't leave them too suffer."
. "I don't want anyone to keep our kids."
. "We have to take them with us, that's the only way i will be peaceful."
The father was paranoid about not having money to support them.

3b..

Parent's can support their children to succeed in life by encouraging them to keep going to school. By their kids going to school they are helping them a lot because they are more likely to succeeded and the good thing is that schools are free and they don't require money. They could also give them moral support by telling them that things will be okay and that they where going to have to sell their house. They could have told them that things might be rough but in the end everything was going to be good. They didn't have to resort to killing because they could have kept trying to get their licenses. Maybe their families could give them a little help with money if they needed a lawyer to get their licences. The kids would have understood if their parents where short on money because they lost their job. The material things aren't necessary to live, the thing that they needed most at this moment was love.

Lord of the Flies- Remake: BERMUDA.

1. This is Chace Crawford. I chose Chace Crawford because he seems he could be cocky from past roles. Also because he seems like the type that would want to be a leader when there is a situation of being stuck. He also reminds me of the actual Ralph in the movie because in his roles he's nice and has a good heart at the end. Ralph seems at the beginning to not have a good heart because he's mean to Piggy but in the end he is really nice to him. I think he's a good Ralph because he would be good at making people listen to him. He has that leader type vibe and that would really work with the remake of the Lord of the Flies. He is also a good Ralph because in his past roles he is a good friend that grows to form really strong friendships and that's what we see happening in Lord of the Flies between Ralph and Piggy.

2. I chose Rachel McAdams to play Jack. In the movie her name would be Jacqueline. I choose her to play Jack because from her previous movies she's nice in the beginning and then in the end when she finally cracks, like Jack, she goes completely wild. So i thought she would be a good Jack in that way. Also Jack is a boy but a girl could play his part really good. I chose her to because in her movies she is sort of a backstabber and Jack back stabbed Ralph by taking away most of the people that could be helpful. I also choose her because she has an evil look to her and she could be a good hunter in the remake. And with her evil look she could scare people or beasties.

3. This is Leighton Meester. I chose Leighton Meester Piggy. I chose her to play Piggy in the movie because I wanted to change it up by putting a girl in the cast and she seemed like a person who could play a boy or in this case a girl who would be nice and not mean while stranded somewhere. She could be the follower, just like Piggy. She would never be mean to be heard and to be hurt. The only thing that i would change is her name to Tabitha "Tibby". Leighton Meester would be a good Tibby/Piggy because she comes out in Gossip Role and she is used to being in weird situations like how the situations will be in the remake of the Lord of the Flies. She also seems dorky like Piggy and she can really transform into his role.

4. This is Lindsay Lohan. I chose her to play Simon because Lindsay in her past roles seems to be chill and relaxed like Simon. She also looks like Simon who would wonder around like Simon does in the last few chapters. She also looks the youngest and Simon is a little younger of all the main characters. But in the remake they are all the same age. Lindsay could also play Simon because Simon is always with Jack and Ralph and he is somewhat a follower. Lastly I think she would make a good Simon because from her past roles like in Mean Girls she is friends with both sides like the popular crowd which in Lord of the Flies would be the hunters and the choir and she is also friends with the art "freaks" which actually those are her real friends, and in Lord of the Flies they would be Ralph, Jack, and Piggy. Her name in the remake would be Simone.

5. I chose Leonardo Dicaprio to play Roger. I chose him because in the movie "Catch me If You Can" he goes out of his way to get what he wants and he does it. Just like Roger when he kills Piggy. He can be heartless also. I think Leo also will fit great in the movie because just like the others he looks like a high school boy. He makes a good Roger because he can seems nice on the outside but deep down when he's playing a mean role he can be evil and no one would expect it.

The place where my movie is The Bermuda Triangle. I chose an island because i wanted to keep the main setting because i really don't like it when good books are made into movies that hardly relate to the book, especially if it's really good. But i did change the island to the Bermuda's. I chose the Bermuda's because the island is very mysterious and the way they end up there is that all 5 characters are going to a school trip to the Florida to this famous museum and they are coming from New York but they are late to the airport and they don't notice but they get the wrong tickets and the wrong plane. But none of them know each other even though they go to the same school. So once they get on the plane everything seems normal and they all start to fall asleep and the plane never stops and then all of a sudden while riding right over the Bermuda Triangle they begin to get a lot of turbulence and they are forced to evacuate and all 5 of them strangely get saved and land in the Bermuda island. From there the storyline is mostly like the Lord of the Flies.

7a. The "beastie" is this hurricane on top of the Bermuda triangle. I chose this as the beastie because it is very scary if your stuck on this weird island that changes over night.

7b. The first thing i would change is the reason why and how they end up on the island. The second is their age and there gender like Simone would be Simone, and Piggy Tibby. The last thing i would change is how they interact with each other, like they're not going to be so wild and naive, they will be more mature and they will handle the situation differently by communicating and not fighting and by getting to know each other and finding a way to escape this strange place. Also by figuring out why them 5 in particular got stranded.

8. I wouldn't keep the name the Lord of the Flies, i would change it to BERMUDA.

Hiroshima

I feel that before the bombing of Hiroshima, it was very peaceful. Like in the picture the tree is standing still with nothing around it to bother it or hurt it. In the background is the city, all calm and peaceful as well. When you look at this picture it doesn't seem like it was ever attacked. Lets say you were reading a book by this tree, and all of a sudden a bomb starts falling. You would be shocked because all this time its been quiet and no one is bothering you.

This picture was after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Some people vaporized right there in mid air because the radiation was so strong that their shadow was left on the ground. Some people were found sitting on the benches near were the explosion happened. They were just there all burnt.

This painting was drawn by a Hiroshima attack survivor. It shows that there were 6 survivors. All six of them look so desperate looking for food or something in the dumpsters. They all look damaged by the radiation from the bomb. They look like they can barely survive. In the dumpster you can see someone in there dead just floating around.

Abortion...What do YOU really think about it ?

Abortion... well everyone obviously has a different take on this topic. Its so hard to make up your mind to either be pro-choice or pro-life, especially to me. When I think about abortion i always think that its the woman's choice and that its her body, but then again the baby is innocent. But after research i came to a conclusion, i am pro-choice. I want abortion to stay legal, with its restrictions, about having an abortion by 4 months. Really the women does choose what to do with her body. Only she knows what kinda environment shes in and what conditions if she has the baby that it might be in. I'm pro-choice but that doesn't mean i encourage abortion completely. That doesn't mean I'm gonna go do it. I'm pro choice because if your pro choice you want abortion to be legal. When abortion is legal women won't have to go desperately looking for ways to abort. But once they decide to abort they have to know the danger their body is in. Their body will be disrupted and their body might get ruined. Aborting a baby also means to have it in your conscious, they will always remember what they did to that baby. Everyone should always think hard and deep about aborting and they should always know the consequences that comes with aborting.
"A pregnancy to a woman is perhaps one of the most determinative aspects of her life. It disrupts her body. It disrupts her education. It disrupts her employment. And it often disrupts her entire family life."
I choose this quote because it explains what women might go through if they want an abortion. This is one of the reasons why I'm pro-choice , only the women aborting a child knows why she is doing it. They know that if they have the baby t hey might not be able to support it and what if they baby dies once its born, you would have already been attached to it and it might even be harder. Work should never be an excuse to abort a fetus though. If someone uses work as an excuse that's completely insane to me. If you know your not in the position to take care of a baby because of your work you should use safe sex.

Powerful Pictures

2. Answer in a complete sentence: What is this picture about? (2 sentences - 2pnts)
This picture, to me, is about lokking at things in different perspectives. Also its about having an imagination and thinking outside the box

3. What message does this picture present to you? Why?(2 complete sentences - 2 pnts)
This picture means to me that you can always look at things in a different perspective. Everyone has an imagination that can see things different perspectives.

4. Can you relate your life to this picture? Why or why not? (4 sentences - 4pnts)
I can relate this picture because when you first look at things you may see then one way, but when you really think about it, it has a meaning behind it, you just have to use your imagination. Things don't always seem the way they look. Everyone will always see things way different. So thats why don't always asume things at first look.
